The Patiki Production was awesome. Some of us had a brother or a sister in it. The costumes were great. Some of them were sparkly. Darth Vader was cool! We liked the way the dog did his acting.
The singing was really brilliant and the children remembered the words. When we are in Year 3 we hope we can be in a production.
Today is Kase's last day and we wish him the best for his move to Australia. We will miss Kase. He might email us or write a letter and tell us know about his new school.

Yesterday Lesley Ottey from the Community Garden came to visit and help to get us started on our new garden. We need compost, soil, shingle, water and sunshine. When we have enough soil and compost we are going to plant some vegetables and flowers. We are really excited about starting our garden. At Whanau Time tomorrow we are going to tell everyone about our garden.
Today we did a new photo board. We worked with a buddy and wrote captions for lots of new photos. Our board looks really cool. Next time you visit Studio 2 remember to have a look.

Tuesday, 14 August 2012

Yesterday it was a wet day so we sang our rainy day songs.
We used pieces of paper and round lids to cut out lots of circles. We called each circle a lemon meringue pie. Jamie said," Folding the circles was a good way to figure out fractions". We had to cut the "pies" into pieces and work out which pieces were half, quarter or eighths. Next we glued the pieces into our books.
The Clouds group read a book about dinosaurs. After reading they pretended they were dinosaurs escaping from the volcano. They presented their stories to the class. Their stories were written on  dinosaur shapes.

Choosing Time in Studio 2!
Alfie, Jamie, Josh, Phelix, Kase, Caleb, and Mitchell made a base where you could keep safe and Alfie was the doctor. "We were using our imagination".
Jacob and Rico made a skyscaper and a tower where people could live. They used blocks.
Issac, Lily, Kaylee and  Nerissa created birthday cards and presents to take home.
Noah designed a new game with Blake.
Jade, Libby and Steph made some colorful bracelets and bookmarks.
A great way to end the week.

We are presenting our animal research for news this week. We do an audience check to make sure everyone is looking at the speaker. Our voices have to be loud and clear. This is what we think about the talks so far.
Kase " We did lots of work on them".
Stephanie, "Some of them are very long because there is lots of information about the animals"
Nerissa," I leant a lot about foxes from Jade's presentation".
Mitchell," I liked Libby's because she gave lots of polar bear facts and information."
We are looking forward to listening and learning about more animals tomorrow.

We watched the Court Theatre perform "The Antarctic Adventure" We saw 3 penguins and 2 scientists. There was a pirate  who caught all the krill so there wasn't any food left. We created some art work, using our Green Thinking Hats. Our icebergs and penguins look great. We wrote penguin stories on penguin paper and Mr Guthrie thought they were brilliant. The stories are going into a book for our Library Corner. You can read them next time you come to Studio 2.
